Description
We are excited to launch our new sealant, Lockdown.
After a very successful sample campaign we had thousands of valued positive feedbacks from our loyal customers.
Lockdown Sealant is designed to form a glossy protective barrier on car bodywork which will protect paintwork for up to 12 months.
This product easy to apply and remove and offers incredible beading.
How To Use:
- Spray Lockdown directly to a polishing pad or ceramic sponge.
- Work in a cross hatch motion, one panel at a time.
- Allow to cure for approximately 1 minute. Do not let the product fully dry.
- Buff using a clean microfibre cloth.
Top Tip:
For an even stronger bond apply a second coat. Leave at least 1 hour in between coats.

Having been sent a sample of Lockdown I wiped down the bonnet of my wife’s 2008 Fiat Panda and applied as per instructions, very easy to apply and remove and the result is stunning and the beading is insane, the Panda looks better than when it came out of the showroom.

This is a fantastic product. As it is water based not spirit based, it can be used outdoors which is great. The shine it leaves is stunning and the water beading is something else! Don’t waste money on P&S Beadmaker or Meguiars etc – this product is by far superior in many ways. Try it for yourself and find out how you can leave your vehicle with a showroom shine at a very reasonable price.

Got the free 100ml sample which was enough for 4 coats & was impressed that I ordered a bigger bottle. You definitely don’t need much product, so avoid over application.

Car-Chem seems to make a bewildering array of spray-on sealant products but my vote goes to Lockdown. Firstly, a little goes a long way on the surface and it does seem to last a fair amount of time. I wouldn’t expect 12 months, but personally, I would be happy with any spray-on product that has to only be applied once every 3 months. I use it in good weather on my ceramic coated car and I have also tried it on my neighbour’s grotty unloved BMW just to see how it performs. ( I know, I have an issue) The product itself is water-based so has a nice clean scent rather than having harsh fumes. It goes on and buffs off easily on both ceramic coated and virgin, unpolished paintwork. If time/my wife allows, I also use it on my alloys. It leaves a clear/cold finish and a tight water beading effect rather than the sheeting seen from Hydo-Coat. I suppose the best praise I can give it is that I initially bought it as a 100ml trial bottle. Since then I have ordered a larger bottle. It is my go-to detailer/protectant for good weather use.

I tried Lockdown on my car for the first time this weekend and was very impressed with the results. Another great product from Car-Chem!
However, I would take issue with Car-Chem’s claims that Lockdown gives up to 12 months protection. I would not expect a product of this type to last that long and would be happy with good protection between maintenance washes. Car-Chem should update their product description for Lockdown and give a more realistic time for the duration of the protection.

Thank you for this review Mike. We have up to 12 months protection stated because you can expect results from this product in perfect conditions for that period, this has been tested to be accurate. This time will be shortened by a number of factors including where the car is stored, the weather, car usage, number of washes and so on. You are right to use this as part of your maintenance wash as it will offer you a comprehensive level of protection this way.
