Our new Graphene Sealant is presented in a luxury 50ml Glass Dropper bottle.
CarChem Graphene Sealant is a one-atom-thick layer of carbon that is tightly packed into honey-comb like structure. In simple terms, graphene can be described as a single layer of graphite.
Graphene is incredibly strong and also chemically impermeable, meaning it acts a filter and doesn’t allow anything through. This barrier protects against things such as acid rain, road salt, bird droppings etc.
CarChem Graphene Sealant is extremely hydrophobic and glossy meaning rain will effortlessly bead off, keeping your car cleaner and shinier for longer.
Directions for use
1. Place 4 to 5 drops of CarChem Graphene Sealant on to a specialised applicator (sold separately).
2. Lightly apply to the vehicles paintwork in small areas (50cm x 50cm), using an up/down and left/right lattice pattern for optimal coverage. We recommend this applicator – Car-Chem Ceramic Applicator Kit – Car-Chem
3. Wait 1-3 minutes depending on the temperature of the working environment. You will see faint separation or “flash off” when it is ready for the next step.
4. Using a clean lint free microfibre cloth, gently wipe the treated areas in straight lines to remove any excess coating. DO NOT create excess friction.
5. Swap to a clean high pile microfibre and repeat the buffing. Again, use only very light pressure, so no excess friction is created.
6. Finally check the panel for uneven coating or “high spots”. Lightly even out the coating if required.

I tried Lockdown on my car for the first time this weekend and was very impressed with the results. Another great product from Car-Chem!
However, I would take issue with Car-Chem’s claims that Lockdown gives up to 12 months protection. I would not expect a product of this type to last that long and would be happy with good protection between maintenance washes. Car-Chem should update their product description for Lockdown and give a more realistic time for the duration of the protection.
I have heard mixed feelings about this product on the Car-Chem discussion groups but personally, I like it. The issue raised seems to be around its difficulty of application. I have applied it to my already polished and ceramic sealed glass and also to my neighbour’s grotty BMW as a test subject and have had no problems. My suggestion is to polish and then clean the glass to get the best possible foundation before applying it out of the sun. You want to have time to buff before it evaporates. Like most other Car-Chem products it seems to be water-based as it doesn’t give off the solvent fumes like its competitors. I’m not sure what Car-Chem suggests but I like to apply perhaps once every couple of months. As expected, once applied, the rain instantly beads and zips off.
I would like to see a smaller bottle offered. Because it needs applying so infrequently I think a 250ml spray bottle would be perfect and allow people to add it to their basket without such a hike in total basket cost. Just a thought.
